Oscars 2015: Hollywood street and sidewalk closures

Hollywood Boulevard will be closed between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive beginning at 10 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, and remain closed until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24.

It's that time of year again: The Oscars, which also means traffic in Hollywood. 

In advance of the 87th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 22, the City of Los Angeles has announced its final list of street closures.

Some street closures began last Sunday, and some will continue to be closed until Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Wednesday, Feb. 11

  • Orchid Alley from Orange Drive to Orchid Street closed, except for emergency vehicles. Reopens 8 a.m. Feb. 28.
  • North curb lane of Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to south east corner of Orange Drive closed, except for MTA buses until Sunday, Feb. 15. Reopens 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
  • North sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to 230 feet east of Orange Drive closed, expect for 8-foot pedestrian access. Reopens 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
  • East and west curb lanes on Orange Drive from Hollywood Boulevard to Orchid Alley closed. Reopens 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
  • North curb lane of Hawthorn Avenue from Highland Avenue to Orange Drive will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. MTA to re-route bus traffic.

Sunday, Feb. 15

  • Hollywood Boulevard between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
  • South sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Orange Drive to Highland Avenue will be closed, except 8-foot pedestrian access, starting at 6 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. 
  • Hollywood Boulevard from the southeast corner of Orange Drive to Highland Avenue will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
  • North sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Dolby Theatre portal will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. This will be a complete sidewalk closure in front of the entrance to Awards Walk. Pedestrian traffic re-routed and emergency access available.
  • North sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to Orange Drive will be closed, expect 8-foot pedestrian access, starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
  • Pedestrian crosswalk, mid-block on Hollywood Boulevard between Orange Drive and Highland Avenue will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
  • South curb lane of Hawthorn Avenue from Highland Avenue to Orange Drive will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
  • Hawthorn Alley behind El Capitan Theatre from 300 feet east of Orange Drive east to the “T” alley will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. The remainder of Hawthorn Alley to remain open from the “T” east to Highland Avenue.

Monday, Feb. 16

  • Hawthorn Alley on the east side of the El Capitan Theatre from Hollywood Boulevard south 210 feet to “T” of east/west alley will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Friday, Feb. 20

  • Hawthorn Avenue from Highland Avenue to Orange Drive will be closed starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.

Saturday, Feb. 21

  • Orchid Street from 60 feet south of Franklin Boulevard to Orchid Alley will be closed, except for residents, emergency vehicles and hotel loading, starting at 6 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23. 
  • Orange Drive from Orchid Alley to Hollywood Boulevard will be closed, except for local residents, local business access and emergency vehicles. starting at 6 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23. 
  • North and south sidewalk of Hawthorn Avenue from Highland Avenue to Orange Drive will be closed starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  •  North sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to Orange Drive will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24. MTA station to be by-passed from the last regularly scheduled train on Saturday, Feb. 21 until the first scheduled train after 6 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015. Pedestrian traffic rerouted to south sidewalk.
  • West sidewalk of Highland Avenue from Johnny Grant Way south to Hollywood Boulevard will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • Johnny Grant Way from Highland Avenue to Orchid Street will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.

Sunday, Feb. 22 (Day of Oscars)

  • Remainder of Hawthorn Alley from Orange Drive to Highland Avenue will be closed starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • Orange Drive from Hawthorn Avenue to Hollywood Boulevard will be closed starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • North sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to 300 feet east of Highland Avenue in front of closed businesses will be closed starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23. Erect bike rack.
  • South sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to 300 feet east of Highland Avenue will be closed, except for 8-foot pedestrian access, starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.  Erect bike rack.
  • South sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard directly in front of the north-south running Hawthorn Alley will be closed starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23. Erect fencing along the entire sidewalk. No pedestrian access to cross alley.
  • East sidewalk of Highland Avenue from Hollywood Boulevard to Hawthorn Avenue will be closed, except for 8-foot pedestrian access, starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23. Erect bike rack.
  • West sidewalk of Highland Avenue from Hollywood Boulevard south to Hawthorn Avenue will be closed, except for 8-foot pedestrian access, starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23. Erect bike rack and fencing.
  • East sidewalk of Highland Avenue from Yucca Street south to the alley closed, except for 8-foot pedestrian access, starting at 12 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23. 
  • North and south crosswalks on Hollywood Boulevard at the Highland Avenue intersection closed starting at 4 a.m. Reopens 6 a.m. Feb. 23, 2015.
  • Highland Avenue from Sunset Boulevard to Franklin Avenue starting at 4 a.m. Reopens 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • Hollywood Boulevard from La Brea Boulevard to Orange Drive closed starting from 4 a.m. Reopens 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to Cahuenga Boulevard closed starting at 4 a.m. Reopens 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • Hawthorn Avenue between Orange Drive and La Brea Boulevard closed, except for local residents, local business access and emergency vehicles, starting at 4 a.m. Reopens 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • Hawthorn Avenue between Highland Avenue and McCadden Place will be closed, except for local residents, local business access and emergency vehicles), starting at 4 a.m. Reopens 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • McCadden Place between Yucca Street and Hollywood Boulevard will be closed, except for local residents, local business access and emergency vehicles, starting 4 a.m. Reopens 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • Yucca Street between Highland Avenue and Wilcox Avenue will be closed, except for local residents, local business access, and emergency vehicles, starting at 4 a.m. Reopens 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23.
  • Wilcox Avenue between Sunset Boulevard and Cahuenga Boulevard will be closed, except for local residents, local business access and emergency vehicles, starting at 4 a.m. Reopens 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23. Restricted access on streets that end at or intersect Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue at the discretion of the LAPD and LADOT.
